There’s a new leader on the Billboard 200 chart and that is J. Cole‘s The Off-Season.  The album is officially the “No Role Modelz” singer’s sixth chart topper.

J. Cole previously topped the Billboard 200 with 2018’s KOD, 2016’s 4 Your Eyez Only, 2014’s Forest Hills Drive, 2013’s Born Sinner and Cole World: The Sideline Story in 2011.

In addition to eclipsing the Billboard 200 with his latest offering, The Off-Season also marked the best week for a hip-hop release while setting a new record for largest streaming week this year.

The EP moved 282,000 equivalent album units in its first week of release, resulting in 325.05 million on-demand streams and 37,000 album sales.

Across all genres, The Off-Season earned the second best week among albums.  Taylor Swift‘s Fearless (Taylor’s Version) eked out Cole after earning 291,000 units in its debut week last month.

The 12-track The Off-Season defeats a streaming record previously set by embattled country artist Morgan Wallen, whose Dangerous: The Double Album earned 240.18 million on-demand streams on week one.
